Trainee Catering Officer, Tray Assembly

Job Description

You will be working in a commercial kitchen preparing inflight meals for airline clients, with the following responsibilities:
•Oversee the operations in Tray Assembly for the presetting of meal trays
•Monitor presetting schedule and ensure timely completion of preset activities
•Monitor and acknowledge flight advice or movements;
•Be able to interpret airline menu summaries, ensure photo specifications are updated according to airline specifications
•Coordinate with respective areas (i.e. Documentation, Cabin, Production, Duty Manager etc);
•Be able to monitor performances of service crew and contractors besides staff
•Conduct briefings to preset team on discrepancies and work instructions
•Plan the roster and deployment of staff
•Be able to use PCs and computer systems related to area of work, read computerised worksheets, check and respond to emails when on duty
•Conduct investigation of discrepancies
•Be able to carry out ordering according to load requirements, follow proper stock control and rotation (adhere to FIFO)
•Be able to ensure that staff and service crew adhere to HACCP and Medina food safety requirements
•Conduct training of new staff on preset procedures
•Possess good decision-making, problem solving, communication and training skills
•Be able to promote team-building spirit within the work place

Job Requirements

•Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word)
•Attention to details and problem solving skills
•Demonstrate ability to work in a multicultural, multi ethnic environment and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
•Strong organizational and planning skills
•Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes and procedures and adapt local practices to industry standards
•Ability to work on teams, work at detailed level and understand the larger picture
•Good oral and written communication skills
•Comfortable to lift up to 15kg 
•Be able to work shifts.
